October 10, 2008 Dear Friends: In a meeting this past week, Governor Charlie Crist said that we need to just "keep swinging" when it comes to Florida's economy. The Governor shared that the Tampa Bay Rays did just that, and they are now in the American League championship series and hopefully on their way to the World Series. Governor Crist emphasized the need for all of us to keep finding ways to stimulate the economy and help businesses and individuals thrive. While listening to the attendees I spoke with, I heard both concern about business in general as well as an occasional sentiment that regulation was making business more difficult. Many of these people were relieved to hear about the Governor's "Accelerate Florida" initiative and were eager to learn more. I listened to their suggestions and stories and believe that we’re all in this together, and we’ll all work through it together. Later in the week, I met with and listened to more of Florida's business professionals while "On the Road to Better Business" in Jacksonville. I met with City Manager Mr. Allan Mosley, Senator Stephen Wise and several licensees who shared their concerns about our agency. Once again, the biggest concern was unlicensed construction activity. We are making every effort to enhance enforcement efforts in unlicensed activity. We appreciate all that you do by reporting unlicensed activity, which is an important part of the process. I challenge you to help us aggressively pursue unlicensed activity. For those of you who suspect unlicensed activity, please call toll-free 1-866-532-1440 or visit MyFloridaLicense.com to complete a complaint. Sincerely, ![]() Charles W.
