DBPR Launches "Business in the Green"
Department Unveils Green Web Resource

TALLAHASSEE—Tomorrow is Earth Day, and the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (Department) and the Department of Environmental Protection are unveiling “Business in the Green,” an educational resource Web page. The page is intended to encourage Florida’s businesses and professionals to get in the green— environmentally, that is. In support of Governor Crist’s “Serve to Preserve” initiative, the Department has compiled a Web-based resource page with helpful tips and links to help Florida foster a more eco-friendly business community.
“Our goal in creating the ‘Business in the Green’ Web resource page is to inspire our licensees to do their part in helping to reduce our collective carbon footprint,” said Interim Secretary Chuck Drago. “If all of our licensees and businesses commit to a few of these energy-saving tips, not only will they save money on utility bills, but also they will help Florida become a leader in the green movement.”
“Business in the Green” lists helpful tips to become “Green at Home,” “Green at Work” and “Green in the Car,” in addition to providing links to state and federal organizations, ranging from local governments to the Department of Energy’s incentive and tax credit Web page.
The Department recently took steps toward environmentally friendly practices by changing all of the light bulbs to more energy efficient halogens, placing motion sensors on light switches, and replacing some fleets of cars with flex-fuel vehicles.
