Secretary Drago Names Maureen Olson as Deputy Secretary of Professional Regulation

TALLAHASSEE—Charles W. Drago, Secretary of the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR), announced today the appointment of Maureen Olson as Deputy Secretary of Professional Regulation.
“I am pleased to announce the appointment of Maureen as a key member of the DBPR management team,” said Secretary Charles W. Drago. “Maureen has significant experience implementing and managing statewide programs and a proven ability to appropriately define and resolve issues.”
Olson comes to the Department with over 21 years of progressive leadership and management experience in both civilian and military settings. She previously served as the Deputy Director of Health Services at the Department of Corrections as well as in various positions at the Department of Elder Affairs. In addition to her service to the state of Florida, Olson serves in the United States Navy, including a year in Kuwait as support for Operation Iraqi Freedom.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the citizens of Florida as the Deputy Secretary of Professional Regulation at DBPR,” said Deputy Secretary Maureen Olson. “I am joining a very strong team that is dedicated to providing excellent service to the professions we license and regulate.”
Olson earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Transylvania University in Lexington, Ken., a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Kentucky, and an additional master’s degree in Public Health from the University of South Florida.
As the Deputy Secretary of Professional Regulation, Olson will oversee the divisions of Professions, Regulation, Certified Public Accounting, and Real Estate. Deputy Secretary Olson officially joined the DBPR team today, Sept. 15.
